Effective July 1, 2010, all merchants accepting credit cards using QuickBooks 2010 must adhere to new, stricter password protection requirements. To comply with these password protection requirements going into effect this summer, anyone using Merchant Service-enabled QuickBooks files must download an upcoming June 2010 update. Without this update, you will not be able to open any company files that do not have “Customer Credit Card Protection” enabled.
These new requirements are designed to better protect sensitive credit card data and affect both users and administrators of merchant service-enabled QuickBooks 2010 company files. To meet the new requirements, both users and administrators will need to create a 'complex password' for access to QuickBooks. These new complex passwords are tougher to hack and they give you and your customers more protection.
We'll also let you know when the update is available.
